Screening

This past weekend, I was incredibly blessed to be able to have a screening at the Joslin's home in Melbourne, FL. We had three screenings and about a hundred people total showed up to see the film!

Ultimately, is was an incredible experience and it was Cheyne's first time seeing the film as well as his family. The reactions of the family and friends were more than I could have hoped for. Thanks so much for everyone who came out and supported the film!

More info coming soon as I begin preparing to send the film out to festivals.

The moment you've been waiting for!

It's done!

I finished the Final cut of "Walking Without Limits"

I will be uploading it online (link will be posted soon..) and will still be selling DVDs. There is incentive to buy the DVD as it will have an extended cut as well as a lot of bonus material and footage not shown in the shorter cut for class.

I just has a test screening (about 10 minutes ago..) and it went VERY well. I got some great comments and look forward to hearing what everyone else has to say. I will continue to work on the film to make it better and will be preparing DVDs within the next month or two. I can't wait!

Thank you so much to everyone who has helped out, again, with this project. I couldn't have done it without you.

Sincerely,

Steph Segler

Lawsuit Anyone?

Well this is a first..

As you all probably know by now, I have been advertising my website and the documentary on various facebook pages having to do with Cerebral Palsy. This morning, I received an email from one of the creators (?) of one of the pages. Here it is:

(I have removed her email address and her name in order to protect her privacy - not that I should..)

Donna R------ UCPA of Greater Indiana has sent you a message using your contact form at: www.stephsegler.com/About

Senders email: d-----@ucpaindy.org

I received notice of your attempt to post information on our Facebook page about your documentary. In order to protect our clients (and ensure that there is no implied endorsement of products, treatment, etc.), we delete posts like this until we have more information. I would be interested in knowing more about the "treatment" method used for this child. Thank you.

Is it just me? or am I creating controversy? I emailed her back stating my intentions, so hopefully she'll let me post on her wall again. If not, I suggest everyone who is a part of that facebook group leave it as soon as possibly due to retaining information that could possibly be inspiring to you and/or your children. (what kind of a threat is that?) I let her know that I was not trying to endorse any method of therapy or "treatment" - as she states in her email, but that I am a student making an inspirational student film about a young boy who has learned to walk because of motivation, strength and courage.

If you have any thoughts on the matter, please comment, as I'd love to hear what you all have to say. For reference, here's what was posted on their facebook wall by yours truly:

Hey guys - I'm in post production for my documentary about a boy with CP who learned to walk. I have a ton of footage and interviews with his parents and was wondering what sort of questions and answers would you like to hear? I can post some of the footage online and send a link this way. For more info please visit www.stephsegler.com Thanks.

Perhaps I was too forward?

Update!

Hey folks,

We're almost there! I am currently taking a short break from transcribing to write a quick update on the blog. I have over 30 pages of transcriptions (writing down what people say in the interviews) and I'm still writing! We have a rough cut due tomorrow and the final cut due on the 25th. The footage looks incredible and I can't wait to see a cut from beginning to end!

In other news:

I just shared the documentary on several facebook pages having to do with CP:

Cerebral Palsy, United Cerebral Palsy association of greater Indiana, helpkidswithcerebralpalsy, Cerebral Palsy Family Network, and Cerebral Palsy information.

I'm hoping to help spread the word about Cheyne and how his mom stopped at nothing to help her son oneday learn how to walk. Here he is now going off to college at Stetson.

Cheyne, you're such an inspiration to all the people you come in contact with. It's been a pleasure listening to you and talking with you about everything you've been going through throughout your life. Congrats on this new journey.

- If anyone would like a copy of the completed DVD or a wristband, Please send me a message via my website: www.stephsegler.com

Thanks!

Steph

Editing and screener info!

We haven't forgotten about our fans!

Currently we are in our semi-final phase of editing. The film will be completed by April 25th. There will be a screening of the film at UCF as part of the directors showcase of films. Details are as followed:

UCF Directing 3 Screener.
FRIDAY MAY 6th
in the VAB - visual arts building
at 7:00pm

Just a little blurb, also -

With gas prices on the rise, it is costing me more than I expected for travel back and forth from Orlando to Melbourne, where Cheyne lives. It would help me a whole heck of a lot if the fans and supporters of the film donated to the films post production funds. Even $1 helps.

$1 - my greatest thanks and appreciation
$5 - bracelets/wristbands (like the lance armstrong ones)
$15 - hand designed T-shirt (s, m, l)
$25 - DVD of the film
$50 - all of the above plus a special thanks credit in the film.
$100 - all of the above plus Executive Producer credit in the film.
$125 - all of the above plus an electric guitar valued at $100

Thank you again for all of the wonderful people who have already contributed to the making of this incredible film. Special thanks to the Joslin family who have been very supportive throughout this entire filming process.
